3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Description
Education is constantly changing. Technology is constantly changing. When we merge the two, education with technology, the leaders of education need to stay current. This is why it is imperative that teachers learn, adapt, and model the use of technological advances to communicate with students, peers, parents, and the community. It is also important that teachers use technology to support student success.

Reflection
Twitter chats are a resourceful social media tool for teacher to connect with students, peers, parents, and the community. The use of the hashtag symbol uniquely connects users instantly without having to be face-to-face. Teachers can use Twitter to connect with students and parents in order to keep them up to date on relevant information and allow them to ask questions. Teachers can use Twitter to connect with colleagues and the community to network during conferences and to encourage one another (because only a fellow teacher can understand the teacher life). I have long been a Twitter user; however, just recently, I have began to use it for more networking purposes and less emphasis on social media. I enjoy participating in Twitter chats with colleagues because it is easily accessible and limited with the use of characters (aka short, sweet and to the point)!
The world of blogging is new to me. Blogging allows teachers to post classroom updates, academic resources, and classroom protocol on one convenient webpage that is accessible to students and parents at any time. Additionally, blogs can be used for student forum discussions on a facilitated area. Teachers can post assignments and upcoming quiz/test/project dates as well so students and parents can stay informed. Creating a classroom blog was an area of hesitancy for me; however, I found the ease and cohesiveness of the blog to be good. I view my blog as a "home base" for all the other information I want to share because you can re-route people easily from one central location. This eliminates the need to constantly update people on various webpages. An added perk is that you can have students and parents subscribe to your blog so they are emailed when it is updated - a teacher's dream!
The need to stay up-to-date on all the recent and upcoming teacher resources can be overwhelming at times. I feel that is critical that teachers build a database (or list) of all the Tech Tools they use, along with listing their functions. This allows teachers to easily recall which Tech Tool they need for a particular scenario. This has served as great benefit for me (since I tend to forget the names of things easily). Additionally, it is important to be willing to read articles on the use of these Tech Tools because other teachers have used them before you and you can reap from their wisdom. My favorite and most used technology tool is Google Docs, Slides, and Drive. These have served as powerful collaborative tools amongst the busyness of coordinating schedules and staying up-to-date on assignments. I will continue to build my Tech Tools database for reference.
